Wallingford attic rooms

This project involved the conversion of unused attic space in a 19th Century farm-workers cottage. Space was created by removing an unused chimney breast and reinforcing the roof so that a structural wall could be removed.

This had the added effect of making an existing first-floor bedroom larger. Light flooding in from the two new Velux rooflights and the interesting features of the remaining asymmetric chimney breast create a bright and spacious room.

Ample insulation in the upgraded roof ensure stable temperatures throughout the year, and eaves storage space adds to the practicality.
